Errichtung und Betrieb eines Zentrums für nationale und internationale zeitgenössische Kunst, Errichtung und Betrieb von Ausstellungsräumen für eigene und fremde Kunstwerke, Aufbau einer Sammlung nationaler und internationaler zeitgenössischer Kunst und deren Zugänglichmachung für die Öffentlichkeit, Förderung und Vermittlung zeitgenössischer Kunst, insbesondere durch öffentliche Ausstellungen im Kanton Basel-Stadt und der Region Basel, Förderung der Forschung in Bezug auf internationale zeitgenössische Kunst, Errichtung und Betrieb von Künstlerateliers sowie Förderung öffentlicher Kunstsammlungen, insbesondere im Kanton Basel-Stadt und der Region Basel. Daneben unterstützt die Stiftung wohltätige Organisationen und andere im öffentlichen Interesse liegende Institutionen im Bereich Kultur. Die Stiftung wird nach unternehmerischen Grundsätzen geführt, ist aber nicht gewinnstrebig.
