Privacy notice
Learn what data is processed when you visit StartupMonitoring and how to control optional usage measurement.
Controller and scope
Chiron Services GmbH, Starenstrasse 33, 4059 Basel, Switzerland, is responsible for operating this website and processing visitor data as described here. Please send privacy enquiries to [email protected].
This notice covers startupmonitoring.ch. The public dashboard displays aggregated information about Swiss companies. The register adds public company details and commercial register notices. External websites we link to have their own providers’ privacy notices.
Hosting, access logs and security
We operate the website on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in the Zurich region (Switzerland). Cloudflare helps deliver and protect access to the website. When you access it, the hosting infrastructure processes technical connection and log data, including IP address, time, requested address, HTTP status, volume transferred, browser information and, where supplied, the referring page.
These data support delivery, troubleshooting, stability and protection against abuse. The web application may use technical session and security cookies. These operational functions are separate from optional measurement and are not disabled by rejecting it.
Log retention depends on hosting configuration and the operational or security purpose. Data relating to a specific security incident or legal requirement may be needed for longer. The linked provider notices describe processing of operational data and further processing locations.
Optional measurement and your consent
We want to understand use of the public dashboard and improve its presentation. We use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity together as the optional “Analytics” category. Before your explicit consent, our integration loads neither service’s scripts and sends neither service measurement requests.
Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage for up to 180 days. The record contains your choice, the time and the approved scope, including its version, purpose and service identifiers. The current consent version is 2026-10-v1. A new choice is required when it expires or the scope changes. Measurement does not start if the choice cannot be reliably stored.
You can reject or withdraw consent at any time using “Privacy settings” in the home-page footer. Loaded measurement services are stopped; the page may reload to do this. The integration removes accessible measurement cookies on this website. You can also delete cookies on third-party domains in your browser. Withdrawal applies to future processing and does not automatically delete data already transmitted.
Limited to the public dashboard
Measurement is allowed only on the HTTPS home page of startupmonitoring.ch or www.startupmonitoring.ch. The language selection de, en, fr or it and known dashboard section anchors are allowed. Other paths, extra URL parameters, unknown anchors, local previews, the company directory, search pages and company profiles are excluded.
The referring address is also checked before starting. An empty referrer, a similarly limited own-dashboard address or an external HTTP/HTTPS root address without path, query or fragment is allowed. Other referrers prevent measurement from starting.
For Google Analytics, our integration sends only the domain followed by “/” as page location, “StartupMonitoring” as page title and at most the referrer’s origin. Query parameters and section anchors are removed from these fields. After consent, Clarity can itself read the permitted dashboard address and referrer. The start restriction therefore applies to both services.
Google Analytics 4
Google Analytics 4 is provided by Google Ireland Limited, Ireland. After consent, it uses browser and device information, technical connection data, pseudonymous cookie identifiers and usage information for visit statistics. Connections to Google technically transmit the IP address. A pseudonymous identifier does not guarantee anonymity.
Our integration sends a cleaned page view. We have not configured extra custom search, form, download, section-change or click events. Enhanced automatic measurement is disabled. Google Signals, advertising storage, advertising user data and personalised advertising are disabled for this integration.
After consent, cookies including _ga and _ga_<identifier> may recognise a browser and associate sessions. Actual lifetimes and service retention depend on service and browser settings. The 180-day lifetime of our consent record does not describe the retention period of data held by Google.
In our GA4 property, user-data and event-data retention are each set to two months; resetting on new user activity is disabled. This period does not apply to standard aggregated reports. Account settings allow contributions to aggregated or de-identified modelling and business comparisons, technical support, and usage- and configuration-related business recommendations.
Microsoft Clarity
Microsoft Clarity analyses interactions such as clicks, mouse movement, scrolling, rendering problems and sessions. Browser and device details, IP address, timestamps, page information and pseudonymous user and session identifiers may be processed to create heatmaps and session replays.
This project uses “Strict” text masking. Our integration also marks page content for masking before loading the service. This is intended to prevent text and input contents appearing as readable recording content. Interaction positions and technical metadata remain available for analysis. Masking is not a guarantee of complete anonymity.
Consent covers analytics only; advertising storage is denied to Clarity. After consent, Clarity may use identifiers and cookies such as _clck and _clsk. Microsoft describes further cookies and its service-side use. Actual lifetimes depend on the service, consent and your browser.
Microsoft currently specifies 30 days for session playback and nine months for click and heatmap data and labelled or favourited sessions. These are service retention periods, separate from the validity of our consent record.
Google Charts for the canton map
The public dashboard also loads the Google Charts library from Google servers for its interactive canton map. This existing display feature is separate from Google Analytics and Clarity and loads independently of the optional measurement choice. Google receives technical connection data, particularly your IP address and browser information; the browser may also send a referring address.
The map displays aggregated canton values and does not ask you for names or contact details. This privacy-notice page loads neither Google Charts nor the two measurement services.
Contact and data enquiries
The public register makes selected details from public register sources searchable, including company name, identifier, legal form, registered office and address, business purpose, status and recorded publications. Search engines can find the company profiles. Search terms, filters and page numbers are sent as URL parameters to our server for processing and may also appear in technical access logs. The register loads neither Google Analytics nor Microsoft Clarity. It has no shortlist and does not send enquiries automatically.
If you email us, we process your sender and contact details, message contents, any attachments and associated communication data to handle your enquiry, prepare or perform an agreed service and document the correspondence.
An email link first opens your own email application. A message is sent only when you send it there. Please provide only details needed for your request. Your and our email providers may process data during transmission.
We retain enquiries and related documents as long as needed to handle them, manage a business relationship, comply with legal duties or establish and exercise claims. They are then deleted or, where suitable, retained without personal identification.
Recipients, international processing and purposes
Access is limited to people who need it for operations or your enquiry and the relevant hosting, email and technical service providers. When measurement is enabled, Google and Microsoft receive the data described above. Disclosure may also be required by law or to enforce rights.
In addition to Switzerland, processing by Google and Microsoft may take place particularly in Ireland and the United States, and at further locations stated in their notices. Protection abroad may differ. Google and Microsoft describe applicable adequacy arrangements, the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses for international transfers. Their relevant information and safeguards are linked below.
We process data under applicable Swiss data-protection law. Where the GDPR applies, optional measurement relies on consent, specific service enquiries on pre-contractual steps or contract performance, and necessary website operations on the interest in a secure, functioning service, subject to legal retention duties.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you can request access to your personal data and information about processing, and correction of inaccuracies. Where the conditions are met, you can request deletion, restriction, objection or release or transfer of data. Legal retention duties and other legitimate grounds may prevent immediate deletion.
Contact [email protected]. We may request proportionate proof of identity to avoid disclosing data to an unauthorised person. You can also contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or another authority responsible for you.
You can withdraw measurement consent in the home-page settings independently of a written request. We do not use the visitor analyses described here to make automated individual decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Changes to this notice
We update this notice when website operations, services or legal requirements change. The dated version on this page describes the current setup. Changing the stored measurement scope requires a new choice before optional measurement starts.
